Zusammenfassung: | This article discusses the provisions of Public Law 99-457 and suggests that the implementation of this law sets the stage for the development of family-centered preschool services for young children with special needs. The approach presented is based on the philosophy that each family has unique strengths and needs. These strengths and needs must be identified in partnership with families and should provide the basis for implementing programs. The family must be served within the context of the greater community. Professionals play a number of roles as services are implemented, including those of supporters and facilitators. |
