Cytotoxic Cyclitols. Synthesis of Ethanolamino and Haloethylamino Derivatives of Methylsulfonylated Cyclitols

Starting from a mesylated inosamine several ethanol-, β - chloroethyl-, β-mesyloxy ethyl-, and β-iodoethylamino compounds were synthesized. Different chlorinated derivatives were obtained through variations in the chlorinating reagent, solvent, and reaction time.
