Asian values, education and development

Do Asian values/cultures, particularly as they have influenced the development of social programmes, have a distinctive influence on the development process?... Most [studies about this question] focus on the link between Asian values and entrepreneurship though since the recognition of human capital's role in development, several studies have at least implied a special role of education in the link between Asian values and development. In this paper, the link between Asian values and education will be the primary focus. The contribution of other 'Asian' social programmes to the development process will also be considered. Drawing on the resulting critique and the available evidence, several areas deserving further inquiry will be identified.(DIPF/Text übernommen).
