Zusammenfassung:This article considers how decisions are reached in the course of psychologists' professional interviews. It argues that the interview is far from a simple information gathering process. Based on recent research on the identification of emotional and behavioural difficulties, it examines ways in which psychologists and the people they interview: (a) 'make sense' of the information they receive; (b) attempt to influence each other's perception of the nature of the problem.
