ESTIMATION OF LIQUID AND SOLID HEAT CAPACITIES USING A MODIFIED KOPP'S RULE
Element based correlations are developed for the estimation of solid and liquid heat capacities (C p ) at 298 K. The correlations follow the general format, C p = ∑ C E N E , where C E is a coefficient associated with each element in the compound and N E is the number of occurrences of the element...

Zusammenfassung: | Element based correlations are developed for the estimation of solid and liquid heat capacities (C
p
) at 298 K. The correlations follow the general format, C
p
= ∑ C
E
N
E
, where C
E
is a coefficient associated with each element in the compound and N
E
is the number of occurrences of the element in the compound. The developed correlations provide a suitable alternative when neither experimental data nor the parameters for more rigorous estimation methods exist. The average absolute errors for the correlations are 9·% for solids and 8·% for liquids. These results represent a substantial improvement to Kopp's Rule, the original element based correlation. |
