A Facile and Practical Procedure for the Synthesis of 8-Hydroxy-4-oxochroman Derivatives

Novel 8-hydroxy-4-oxochroman derivatives were prepared from appropriate 4-chromanones via the Baeyer-Villiger oxidation followed by an intramolecular Fries rearrangement.
