Formation of A Dihaloenone of Homoadamantanone
Adamantanone is converted to a (Z)-bromoiodomethylidene homoadamantanone via a sequence involving ethynyl Grignard addition, conversion to a bromoalkynol and treatment with iodine and [hydroxy(tosyloxy)iodo]benzene.
