The Determination of Citrate and Tartrate in Pharmaceutical Formulations by PMR Spectroscopy

A 1 H NMR spectroscopic determination of mixture of citrates and tartrates in pharmaceutical formulations was performed. The methylene AB quartet of citrate and the methine singlet of tartrate were chosen for integration, using sodium acetate as internal standard. This method does not require any operative manipulation of the material to be analysed. The results obtained indicate that the quantitative measurements are reproducible. The method provide also a specific identification of the analytes.
