A fluid in contact with a semipermeable membrane: density functional approach

A density functional (DF) approach based on Kierlik-Rosinberg formalism is applied to a binary hard sphere mixture interacting with a semipermeable membrane (SPM). The results of the calculations are compared with singlet level Percus-Yevick theory and with Monte Carlo simulations. The DF method see...

Zusammenfassung:A density functional (DF) approach based on Kierlik-Rosinberg formalism is applied to a binary hard sphere mixture interacting with a semipermeable membrane (SPM). The results of the calculations are compared with singlet level Percus-Yevick theory and with Monte Carlo simulations. The DF method seems capable of predicting accurate density profiles and osmotic pressures in systems with a SPM.
