Zusammenfassung:The deuterium spectra of 4-n-pentyl-d 11 -4′-cyanobiphenyl, (5CB-d 11 ), 4-n-pentyl-d 11 -2,3,5,6-d 4 -4′-cyanobiphenyl, (5CB-d 15 ) and 4-n-pentyl-2,2′,3,3′,5,5′,6,6′-d 8 -4′-cyanobiphenyl (5CB-d 8 ), measured at temperatures within the nematic range, have been analysed to yield both dipolar and quadrupolar splittings. Proton-{deuterium} double resonance experiments on 5CB-d 15 have been analysed to give inter-proton dipolar couplings, again at temperatures within the nematic range. These data have been used to determine the elements of the ordering matrices for most of the rigid sub-groups in the molecule.
