The electron spin resonance spectrum of CH3CO2 = trapped in γ-irradiated sodium acetate

The free radical CH 3 CO 2 = is identified in γ-irradiated polycrystalline sodium acetate. The observed spectrum is compared with predictions based upon simple Hückel calculations using the hetero atom model of the methyl group.
