Zusammenfassung:The multiphase structure of chlorinated polyethylene resins produced locally were studied by a combination of dielectric and mechanical relaxation techniques and compared with other commercial products. The conventional ac dielectric and torsional pendulum techniques were found insufficient for revealing the multiplicity of the glass-rubber transition caused by the heterogeneity of the chlorinating process. However, with the low effective frequency of thermally stimulated creep and dielectric depolarization techniques multiple transitions characteristic of the method of production could be detected. The effects of additives and of the method of processing of the samples were also studied. An attempt was made to correlate the phase structure of the CPE resin with the impact strength of the corresponding CPE-PVC compound. On the basis of the results it is believed that measurement of the multiple-transition structure of CPE is useful for quality control of resin production.
