Ultrasonic Diagnosis of Arterial Aneurysms

In the present work attempts have been made, with the aid of ultrasonic scanning, A-presentation, and TM-Mode, to demonstrate the cross-section of arteries of different sizes, both in vitro and in vivo. In this connection a material is presented consisting of 10 aneurysms of the femoral artery and 4 aneurysms of the abdominal aorta-all demonstrated by means of ultrasound. It is concluded that the method is well suited for the selection of cases, clinically suspected of aneurysms, for ateriography, and, as a supplementary form of investigation, since the method is superior to arterography in providing information on the actual size of the aneurysm.
