The Correlation of Radiographic Changes of Pacemaker Batteries with Electronic Testing

A comparison of the radiographic changes and the functional output of the Medtronic pacemaker had been made. In units with moderate radiographic changes, it was found that there was a poor correlation with the tested electrical output. In pacemakers with more pronounced signs of aging, the correlation was better. Some of these units might still be satisfactory if percutaneous adjustment had been attempted.
