Zusammenfassung: | In this book the authors set out to provide a unified and self-contained treatment of the computational and mathematical theory of the nervous system. The subtitle 'A Comprehensive Approach'reflects the broad span that the 19 chapters of the book encompass, from the level of molecular processes ('Atomistic simulations of ion channels', ch. 2) and single-channel mechanisms, through neural coding, single neuron and network models, up to systems level modeling of psychophysical phenomena ('Modeling primate visual attention', ch. 19). Each chapter is written by a different author(s), who is an active researcher in the field covered by the particular chapter. The book is aimed at a wide audience, from final year undergraduate students to graduate students and researchers - in short, anyone who is interested in the theoretical aspects of neuroscience and has a first or second year undergraduate knowledge of mathematics. |
