Zusammenfassung:Bearings are mechanical elements that constraints the motion and provides relative motion in the desired direction between two objects. Bearings are used to transmit power; bearings are designed to carry loads. Bearings are subjected to wear and tear and the friction that exists between the two rotating surfaces reduces the operating life of the bearing. The major objective of every designer is to enhance the operating life of the bearing by reducing the friction between the mating surfaces by incorporating proper design. In this paper an attempt is made to compare the straight profile roller bearing with the crown profile roller bearing using finite element analysis (standard analysis software is used for this purpose).
