Analysis of wavelength blocking in large metro core network using optical and digital ROADM transport systems

Network planning analysis indicates wavelength blocking in all-optical ROADM networks incurs additional OEO for wavelength conversion, and constrains service reconfiguration. Analyses show that digital ROADM systems mitigate these problems and may provide greater service flexibility. (2 pages)
