Pattern effect removal technique for semiconductor optical amplifier-based wavelength conversion

A technique to overcome pattern effects due to slow recovery times in SOA based wavelength converters is presented. It uses the superposition of the outputs of red-shifted and blue-shifted filters having complementary pattern effects. (2 pages)
