Zusammenfassung: | The paper starts from the results of the activities that have been carried out to develop an on-board processing switching unit that features a modular architecture. It shows the suitability of the developed modules to be arranged in different configurations for on-board regenerative payloads. To fit a wider range of requirements, the developed modules are proposed also with additional features and capabilities and new modules are proposed as well. Two different switch architecture configurations are introduced to demonstrate how the proposed modules are easy to interface each other. The former case is the already developed configuration that implements a single T-stage: the total throughput of the T-switch is 256 Mbps. The latter case is focused on a T-S-T configuration that achieves a total throughput of 2 Gbps: the increased complexity of the system is attained just by adding and cascading the already introduced modules. |
