Semiconductor optical amplifiers: a key technology to control the packet power variation

Semiconductor optical amplifiers have already been identified as a key technology for fast switching. We demonstrate that a proper exploitation of the saturation area can provide concrete solutions to control the power variations between consecutive packets.
