Zusammenfassung: | This paper focuses on the scalability of two classes of wireless networks: (1) mobile, base-station-oriented networks, for which we address routing and mobility protocols and (2) energy-efficient peer-to-peer wireless broadcasting, for which we focus on tree construction. Using discrete event simulation, we investigate two basic aspects of scalability, performance scalability and complexity scalability. Performance scalability addresses the effect of network size on system performance. Complexity scalability consists of computational complexity (i.e., amount of computation needed to construct routes and trees) and communication complexity (i.e., amount of control information needed exchanged to create and maintain network connectivity). |
