Mercury treatment of near field fiber probes for overcoming light leakage

The 'simple' mercury treatment on near field probe has realized 7% improvement of optical density of metal coating, /spl sim/ ( 1/4 ) times decrease in optical leakage and 21% increase in optical damage threshold which reveals its potential usefulness.
