Zusammenfassung:Techniques to achieve model order reduction of complex systems are of great importance to be able to expedite computational simulations. Several of these techniques, such as the Proper Orthogonal Decomposition, involve the decomposition of quantities of interest into a set of global modes, which are unsuited to a large class of problems with localized moving features such as traveling pulses or plasma bursts. In the context of plasma bursts, we showcase an adaptation of the Proper Orthogonal Decomposition that makes it more suitable for these advection-type problems.
