Zusammenfassung: | Conventional spiral antenna theory holds that at least two arms are necessary for useful wideband antenna performance. However, we will show here that good wideband mode 1 performance can be achieved with a single spiral arm. The main benefit is a simplified design and lower manufacturing costs due to no longer needing a beamforming network to properly feed and phase the multi-arm spiral antenna. The key is in careful design and manufacturing of the feed region such that it introduces a gradual taper from the ground plane near the feed into the spiral geometry. |
