Zusammenfassung: | The authors identify theoretical and practical benefits of including reactive effects in impedance imaging. Estimates of the size of the smallest inhomogeneity that can be detected by an impedance tomograph that uses reactive voltages show that an improvement in resolution can be expected. For physiologically meaningful data, a reduction of 25% in the radius of the smallest detectable inhomogeneity is feasible. Experiments demonstrate an improvement in detecting biological tissue in a saline bath. Design considerations for a system to achieve these goals are included.< > |
