Indexing and retrieval of TV news programs based on MPEG-7

This paper describes the results of the study of an existing TV news archive system, which led to the design of a retrieval application using a rich news description model based on the MPEG-7 standard. It also describes the advantages of using MPEG-7 in the indexing, querying and browsing processes.
