Zusammenfassung:A simple and powerful method of designing entropy constrained scalar quantizer is presented in this paper. The method is based upon numerical minimization of the distortion function D instead of solving non-linear equations. Compared to the existing algorithms, this algorithm can be used to a variety of distribution functions including real world statistically found ones, and it converges very fast.
