Zusammenfassung: | Broadband sources are the choice for high-performance fiber-optic gyroscopes. These systems rely on expensive broadband sources exhibiting low spectral modulation such as superluminescent diodes and fiber lasers. We present a low-cost alternative using commercial laser diodes. Spectrum broadening is obtained by reducing the laser facet reflectivity and reconstructing the laser cavity with a mirror deposited on the tip of a pigtailed fiber lead. The device fabrication and current experimental results are discussed. |
