Zusammenfassung:A new model called the one-modular source model has been developed. The model can represent the variable bit rate traffic in an ATM network. Different bit rate traffic has different number of modular sources to represent its demand for bandwidth in a multimedia network environment. As a result, the bandwidth requirement for multiple channels in an ATM network can be reliably predicted using the one-modular concept. The quality-of-service of the variable bit rate video traffic operating in the ATM network can be maintained.
