Zusammenfassung: | The efficiency of communication systems design can be considerably increased by computer-aided engineering methods. A very important method of this type is the simulation of complex communication systems, such as mobile radio systems. Although sophisticated simulation tools offer the advantage of rather cost efficient investigations compared to measurements with real-time experimental hardware setups, simulations are still connected with an enormous expense of time. This is mainly due to the fact that the existing simulation tools model the entire system behaviour in a straight forward approach without taking advantage of the structural properties of the system which allow a reduction of the simulation expense. In the present paper, a novel simulation concept of reduced computational cost is presented for a TD-CDMA mobile radio system with adaptive antennas. TD-CDMA forms part of the third generation mobile radio standard for UMTS adopted by the ETSI and is one of the candidates considered by ITU for IMT-2000. The novel simulation concept and the simulation concept applied up to now are compared with regard to the computational complexity and accuracy through simulations in the uplink of TD-CDMA. |
