Zusammenfassung: | The lift tab/ramp interface in a hard-disk drive is investigated during load/unload. The von Mises stress on the ramp and the lift tab is determined as a function of the ramp profile, the friction coefficient, and the lateral motion of the lift tab. A step function like stress increase was observed, where the slope of the ramp changes discontinuously. A large reduction in stress can be obtained if the slope discontinuity is eliminated. Comparing simulation results with experimental wear results, we observe that maximum wear debris generation occurs at the location of largest maximum von Mises stress. |
