High-Speed Signal Transmission at W-Band Over Dielectric-Coated Metallic Hollow Fiber

Zusammenfassung: | We demonstrate, for the first time, over 100-Gb/s signal transmission at W-band over the dielectric-coated metallic hollow fiber (DMHF). We have experimentally demonstrated the transmission of both up to a 48-Gb/s single polarization quadrature phase shift keying signal and up to an 80-Gb/s single polarization 16-ary quadrature amplitude modulation signal at W-band over 1.5-m DMHF with bit error ratios (BERs) less than 3.8 ×10 -3 . We have also experimentally demonstrated the transmission of up to a 128-Gb/s dual-polarization 16-ary quadrature amplitude modulation (DP-16QAM) signal at W-band over two parallel spans of 1.5-m DMHF based on space division multiplexing with a BER less than 3.8 ×10 -3 . The experimental results establish a transmission record for radio frequency at W-band carrying such a high data rate over the DMHF and demonstrate the potentiality of a new high-speed transmission medium for W-band. |
