Zusammenfassung: | The wavelength where the material dispersion is zero, i.e., that wavelength for which a multimode lightguide would function at highest bandwidth, can be estimated using fundamental materials properties. Operation of lightguides at or near this wavelength is essential for the use of very long fiber lengths with high bandwidth. Calculations have been performed for large groups of metal oxides, fluorides, chlorides, and bromides. These data can be used to locate materials with potential for ultralow-loss fibers at longer wavelengths than are currently in use. |
