Zusammenfassung: | Extensive present demands and much greater projected future needs for high-speed error-free relaying of data have provided an additional stimulus to the communications engineer's interest in efficient transmission and processing of information-bearing signals. A topically well-unified view of current work motivated by this interest was evident in the technical program of the Symposium on Signal Transmission and Processing held at Columbia University in New York City, May 13 and 14, 1965. The symposium was sponsored jointly by the IEEE Circuit Theory Group and the Department of Electrical Engineering of Columbia University. Held in conjunction with the Centennial Celebration of Columbia's School of Engineering and Applied Science, the symposium was part of a year-long series of events commemorating the founding of the Columbia School of Mines in 1864. |
