Zusammenfassung:A high gain microstrip/substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) antenna operates at 30.5 GHz is proposed. Slot feeding mechanism is employed to excite the dominant mode TM010 in a circular patch radiator which is used to feed a surface mounted circular SIW. A gain enhancement of 3.5 dB has been achieved over the single patch antenna. Parametrical studies have been carried out using both Ansoft HFSS and MWS CST simulators to calculate prototype dimensions with improved performance. The optimized design has an operating frequency range from 29.5 GHZ to 32.1 GHz with a bandwidth of 8.6%. The overall antenna realized gain is around 10 dB over the operating band, which makes it suitable for MMW short range communication or MMW imaging applications.
