Zusammenfassung: | The antenna system for the Ariane 5 booster recovery device has been developed to provide high temperature stability, solidity and low-protruding design, high uniformity of radiation coverage in the directions to the boosters' bottom. The antenna system includes 4 antenna units disposed under 90 deg from each other in the booster's nose cross section. The opposite antennas in each of 2 antenna pairs are connected by cables and power divider. L-band slotting antennas have the fibre-quartz-based material on a slot and a heat-reflecting coating placed on a titanium casing. The feed pin is attached to the casing by laser welding. The antenna provides good matching (about 20% frequency band within SWR=2.0). To provide a uniform elevation pattern of the antenna pair the geometry of the antenna edges should be matched. This has been accomplished by means of X-band measurements using antenna and booster scale models. |
