Zusammenfassung: | Electrical systems mainly generate, transmit and distribute electrical energy through ac voltage for more than a century. But, during the recent decades, some new modifications in electrical systems, such as the fast promising growth of renewable sources, storage systems and dc loads, are changing the circumstances gradually. Considering newly emerged conditions, it seems necessary to study again the possible roles of dc systems in present and future electrical systems, i.e. Smart Grid. In this paper, determining the true reasons of the transition, firstly brief history of the transition from ac to dc is mentioned. Also it is investigated whether the reasons are still important and reliable. Then, considering the recent modification in electrical industry, the necessity of new challenge of ac systems by dc systems is described. Finally, the effects of the transition from ac to dc, on the two main sections of the electrical system, i.e. storage and distribution systems, have been studied and derived quantitatively. |
