Zusammenfassung:The paper gives an overview of the current computer hardware trends and software issues. The optimal utilization of a multiprogrammed environment with multi-core processors is an extremely complex job. The scheduling in such an environment is an NP hard problem. The authors of the paper propose a novel approach to model the behaviour of the computing environment. Furthermore an application modelling scheme is introduced. The proposed approach may allow the operating system to react to the changes in a reconfigurable environment. By using the introduced solution it would be possible to make the operating system more proactive.
