Zusammenfassung: | XML has become the de-facto standard for transferring data over the web in the past decade. However most enterprise data still reside in traditional database systems rather than XML databases. To address this, traditional database systems such as RDBs and ORDBs support publishing stored data in XML format which are coined XML Views. However, these XML views depict limited capabilities in manipulating the resultant views. To address this issue much research effort has been taken to implement middleware systems that support propagating updates over XML views to the underlying database systems. Much research has been developed in the Relational database context on translating XML view updates to corresponding database updates. However there is a scarcity in such research in the context of Object-relational databases. In this paper a lightweight updater to support propagating XML View updates to Object-relational databases is proposed. The update mechanism proposed here is entwined around a query tree model which is also presented in this text. |
