The pre-ionization system is used to create the pre-ionized gas. The pre-ionization current is 10...15 A. The paper describes the system design and experimental conditions. State of argon medium after the pre-ionization pulse studied with the help of streak-, digital photo- and pinhole cameras is characterized. Instability development was not observed.
