Zusammenfassung: | Even though the adoption of cloud computing and virtualization have improved resource utilization to a great extent, the continued traditional approach of resource allocation in production environments has introduced the problem of over-provisioning of resources for enterprise-class applications hosted in cloud systems. In this paper, we address the problem and propose ways to minimize over-provisioning of IT resources in multi-tier cloud systems by adopting an innovative approach of application performance monitoring and resource allocation at individual tier levels, on the basis of criticality of the business services and availability of the resources at one's disposal. |
