Zusammenfassung:The paper presents a study on design, analysis and implementation of a sub-fractional slot winding brushless dc motor with unequal tooth widths which is intended to use for light electric vehicle propulsion. Unconventional motor structures are gaining attention because of demands for electric vehicle technology. The main object is to design a BLDC motor having a larger value direct-axis phase inductance which is enabling high performance field weakening operation. For this reason, a subfractional slot concentrated winding structure with unequal tooth widths is chosen. The design phase is including the motivation and the computer aided design works. A software package based on configurator approach is used to determine the motor parameters in a broad sense. Then the motor is modeled in a FEA package for detailed analysis. The designed motor is manufactured precisely and an experimental study is held to verify the design work. The comparison of calculated and experimental results shows that most of the motor parameters can be obtained with a good accuracy.
