Zusammenfassung: | World's largest urbanization is taking place in Sub Saharan Africa. As a result the demand for mobility is increasing. However, the supply of infrastructure is low. This study models the flow of vehicles at several intersections in Addis Ababa in order to simulate different strategies to improve the use of infrastructure. It appears that the share of minibuses, the share of slow vehicles, the number of lanes per stream and the productivity of the type of control have significant influence on the total flow of conflict groups at intersections. Manual intersection control appears to result in a relatively high productivity. Simple solutions to improve the vehicle throughput exist. |
