Reach extenders based on optical amplification for XGPON1 optical access networks
Reach Extenders based on Semiconductor Optical Amplifiers are experimented on a commercial prototype XGPON1 system. Bidirectional performances are evaluated and improved using a novel SOA operation. Up to 50 dB of optical budget is obtained.
