Zusammenfassung:In this paper the High-Speed-Distance Protection algorithm will be discussed. The principle of this novel function is based on the so called dynamic delta-quantities resulting from splitting the electrical circuit after a short circuit event by means of the superposition technique. Due to fact that the estimation of the fault localization takes place in a time domain, the algorithm presents a good alternative to the conventional distance protection, where response speed of the relay plays an important role (high voltage network). The test results of the High-Speed-Distance will be discussed and application areas of this function presented.
