Zusammenfassung: | GEZGİN-2 is the image processing subsystem of RASAT, an earth-observing small satellite which has been developed, built and qualified by TÜBİTAK-UZAY for a LEO mission. GEZGİN-2 is responsible for real-time compression of multi-spectral images acquired by the push-broom imagers of RASAT, before being transferred to the Solid State Data Recorders on-board the satellite. By applying compression to image data prior to recording, on-board storage space and downlink communication bandwidth of RASAT is more efficiently utilized. GEZGİN-2 realizes its image processing tasks through a fully integrated application specific digital architecture, delivering a processing rate of 55Mbps and consuming 6 Watts. As all subsystems of RASAT, GEZGİN-2 has been implemented with commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) components but qualified for its LEO mission through thermal vacuum cycling and vibrations tests compliant to ESA specifications. GEZGİN-2 has been successfully integrated on RASAT in year 2010 and is ready for launch. |
