Zusammenfassung:	Due to the rapid social changes in recent decades, we are now facing the challenge of an aging population structure. The rising demand for better healthcare and living quality has contributed to the huge sum of investment poured from governments, research and industry forces worldwide. As the organizer of the special session 5: Advanced Instrumentation for Healthcare of 2011 I2MTC, the I&M Society Taipei Chapter aims to provide an overview of the biomedical instrumentation development in Taiwan.
