Zusammenfassung:The Transit Authority of River City (TARC) is a system of 312 vehicles serving the metropolitan community of Louisville, Kentucky. Given the changing nature of public transportation, a need has arisen for more efficient operations. It has been decided that by incorporating direct fleet monitoring, TARC management decisions could be made from online computer generated reports. The author reports on the selection of an AVL/M system designer, an AVL/M feasibility study, the signpost/odometer system, file interface definitions, system design software and signpost transmitters.
