Zusammenfassung:The 1992 Cable Act has a section 17 which deals with the interface between cable and consumer electronics. It requires the FCC to review the compatibility issue and make rules - in consultation with representatives of the two industries - to govern the interface between cable and consumer electronics. The two industries are represented by the National Cable Television Association (NCTA) and the Electronic Industries Association (EIA). Together they have formed the Cable Consumer Compatibility Advisory Group (C super(3)AG) and the Joint Engineering Committee (JEC). This paper will report on a principal standard under development under the auspices of those bodies.
