Zusammenfassung: | Abfrations (non-carious cervical lesions in teeth) are a severe problem in dental health care. Abfractions cause sensitivity to heat and cold causing discomfort and can ultimately lead to tooth failure. Currently, there is little understanding of the mechanisms of abfraction formation and propagation. A better understanding of abfraction etiology will be beneficial for dental care. This study will deepen the understanding of abfractions and how they propagate through the tooth by applying a linear fracture mechanics approach to dentin. |
